I don't know if any of you guys saw this but there was this news special on citytv the other week about this kid who kept punching himself in the head, they had to make him wear a boxing mask or else he'd keep knocking himself out
and this dude that I used to work with had a kid with autism and he kept him in a cage because he would get up at night and start opening all of the cabinets and lights and breaking shit
you might look at that video and think that the teachers are assholes, but you have to think about what type of mindset they're in when day after day, all they do is deal with these kids. And yeah, maybe they shouldn't be working there then, but it's hard to find a job these days....maybe they're trapped now cuz they never knew what they were gettin themselves into knamean
I'm just saying this because, nobody really knows how it is to deal with a class filled with these types of kids. And if the kid doesn't remember jack shit anyways, how is what she saying harming the child honestly? I just don't feel that the teacher should have been fired. Maybe a suspension and some on the job counselling. It's very difficult dealing with a child with severe autism, let alone a whole classroom FILLED with them. The dude that I used to work with, used to snap for no reason because of the stress his kid caused...he never wanted to go home and everytime we'd pick him up in the morning, he'd have a tallboy for breakfast. I could only imagine what he went through every night with his kid.

CRITICAL BILL wrote: I'm just saying this because, nobody really knows how it is to deal with a class filled with these types of kids. Lol I know what it's like ^ (I've even worked in residences with physically aggressive clients but never snapped on them, or spoke to them in a disrespectful/inappropriate way - it's obviously not okay to handle it that and if you do lose patience it would cause the behaviour to escalate)... But I'm not saying there aren't challenging and frustrating moments, but you need to have a certain level of tolerance/patience and be well trained in order to handle this type of work. The teachers choosing to handle the situation in that way is inexcusable, imo Bottom line - they are working with a vulnerable population. Also, from the Autism perspective, please think about what it's like to not be able to communicate your needs in the way that you'd like to, and being treated like you don't understand or know things, when you actually do know wtf is going on, it would be very frustrating and you're gonna resort to other ways to communicate and/or alleviate your frustration (behaviour changes)... Sometimes that may involve emotional outbursts or physical aggression.

drop the arrogance with that laugh you don't deal with autistic kids everyday like these teachers do so don't act like you'd be able to handle it, especially someone as emotionally fragile as yourself I still see my buddy from time to time cuz he lives close by he told me once that his son bashed his head into this new TV that they just bought you have to imagine for one second what type of kids you're dealing with here then think a room filled with them, day after day I understand why the father is angry, but lets not make the teacher look like some total evil bitch I'd like to hear some more wired tapped audio of how the kids act ..... maybe the father shouldn't edit out all of the crazy shit his fucked up kid does
