Up-and-coming Ottawa singer-songwriter Andrew Waines dropped his EP debut on May 9, and one of the standouts on the project features budding Ottawa-raised artist City Fidelia.
The “Would You Do It” single was already one of the standouts on the 7-track IM|PREFECT, and Fidelia slides in on the remix perfectly. As the only feature on the project, the FreeDumb-rapper kicks off the remix by flexing his own singing skills, and the versatility in his talent.
Waines, 21-years-old, has been building a name for himself with a steady stream of infectious cover tracks, and performing at some huge events. He took the stage at Ottawa Bluesfest in 2018 (and only launched his career in 2017), and took part of the 150th Grey Cup Festival and National Women’s Show in both Ottawa and Toronto. All of that before IM|PREFECT had seen the light of day, so expect things to kick into a even higher gear now.
City Fidelia has been quite active in 2019 and recently released the Mother’s Day-inspired “Mama Knows” single via Ensemble. The song, which Fidelia referred to as ‘a celebration,’ has been covered by The FADER and various other notable outlets.
“While this Sunday is the time many people choose to celebrate their mothers and mother figures, Ottawa-raised rapper City Fidelia makes a pretty strong case for keeping the appreciation going year-round with his latest single ‘Mama Knows.’” – The FADER
As far as we know, “Would You Do It” is the first time Waines and Fidelia have collaborated but their chemistry is undeniable and hopefully leads to more music in the future. For now, check out the “Would You Do It” remix and IM|PREFECT on Apple Music, Spotify, or various other streaming platforms.
