Aquakultre recently released his new single “Sore,” and word is starting to get out about the soothing energy he brings to the table. After discovering his Water Temple EP just a couple of months ago, I’ve been anxious to see his next move.
CBC Music recently featured Aqua on their ‘Halifax: 10 emerging acts to watch‘ list and “Sore” is featured in the profile. It also includes some background info including how he got started. He was MC Lex at the age of 15 but by 19 his music aspirations were put on hold after encountering some legal troubles. He spoke with CBC’s Holy Gordon about that time of his life:
“When I was 19, I ended getting a five-year prison sentence for some things I’m not too proud of, but it made me who I am today. It was while I was incarcerated I learned how to play guitar, and that’s when I transitioned from hardcore street rap to a more soulful, acoustic music.”
Check out the self-produced “Sore” below and stay tuned for more from Aquakultre.
