As the hip-hop community mourns the loss of battle MC and recording artist, Bender, various efforts are underway to support his family.
KOTD has taken huge steps to honour Bender’s legacy, and will be doing various things to raise funds. One innitiatve will be pushing a Bender t-shirt featuring the ‘R.I.P. Bender’ logo that was created for Bender’s memorial. You can find those on the KOTD Store.
Another innitiave is coming through GoFundMe, and was established by one of Bender’s parterns in the Ottawa-based rap group, Flight Distance.
Patience, or Pat, launched a $10K campaign and KOTD promoted the link heavily during their Bender tribute segment, Talkback, which aired earlier today. By the time posted the video earlier this evening, the $10K goal had already been reached. But that’s just the goal set by Pat, donations are still being accepted. The more money raised to support Bender’s family the better.
Bender passed away in Montreal on Thursday, March 1. His sister indicated that he suffered from sleep apnea, but they would need to wait on an autosopy to confirm that as the cause of death.

Memorial Fund for Bender’s Family
We’re raising funds in the memory of our dear friend Alexander Bender Buchanan, who passed away in Montréal, Québec, on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the age of 37.
All of your donations have been delivered directly to Bender’s mother, Dorene Inglis. The money will to go toward funeral costs, travel, and other expenses incurred during this very difficult time.
Bender’s art has touched countless people all over the world. He was a brilliant poet, musician, visual artist, writer, and a dear friend to so many people. He had a brilliant mind, his heart was huge and his capacity to love was a truly rare thing.
While he is gone far too soon, he will live on forever through his art, and through your stories and memories.

Bender was a beautiful, humble, selfless, hilarious, brilliant man. He will be greatly missed. There will never be another.
