Tomorrow, Apr. 17 is a big day for hip-hop. Mainstays Bun B and producer Statik Selektah will be creating their new collaborative album live for all to see. That’s right, you’ll see the album come together right in front of your eyes and get an in-depth feel for how these professionals get to work. Truly not an experience a hip-hop fan gets to be part of every day.
The recording and creation of TrillStatik will be streamed LIVE from Harley Harl’s House of Hits, Statik Selektah’s full-service studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The broadcast will begin at roughly 5 p.m. EST and will likely run for a minimum of 10 hours. You’ll be able to find the stream via ShowOffHipHop.com.
The House of Hits studio is comprised of the main control room (mic booth, turntables, recording console) plus separate artist lounges.
The event will be hosted by D-Stroy who, along with being a member of rap group The Arsonists, regularly hosts events for the NBA (including All-Star Weekend) and Major-League Soccer.
Several well known names are slated to make an appearance at the event including Raekwon the Chef and Method Math of Wu-Tang Clan, Joey Bada$$, the Flatbush Zombies, Talib Kweli, Termanology, Big K.R.I.T., and more.
TrillStatik, produced entirely by Statik Selektah, has previously worked with Bun B on several occasions and featured the Texas rapper on several of his projects including Stick 2 The Script, 100 Proof (The Hangover), and his classic album with Termanolgy, 1982. You’ll find Bun B and Statik Selektah all over each other’s discographies so fans will definitely be thrilled to see them connect on a full-length release.
Statik announced the project a few days ago via Instagram, where presumably you’ll also find the direct link to access the live stream tomorrow:
“Warning!!!!! Wednesday April 17th at 5pm me & the Trill OG @bunb will be making an album from scratch LIVE for y’all to witness… And you know the guest list is gonna be legendary. #TrillStatik”
After the album is premiered tomorrow, it will then become available on major streaming platforms like Spotify on Saturday, Apr. 20.
