Directed and edited by XCON, “Rap Essentials” is the second video from Dan-e-o’s milestone-celebrating fourth album, Dear Hip Hop: 20 Years Later, which is out now on URBNET.
“Rap Essentials” reunites the veteran spitter with Rap Essentials Volume One-alum, Mathematik and Deuce Deuce (Concrete Mob) on a Lancecape-produced mash-up of “Dear Hip Hop,” Math’s “Learn To Earn” and Concrete Mob’s “Boiling Point.” Those were three joints that appeared on Beat Factory’s seminal Canadian hip-hop compilation in 1996.
And what a great concept for a video too. As the three artists trade verses, XCON superimposed them onto the artwork of classic hip hop releases. Such as Illmatic by Nas, or Death Certificate by Ice Cube.
“Rap Essentials” was produced by Lancecape, and the song is available now via URBNET.
Dear Hip Hop: 20 Years Later is available via Apple Music, Spotify and other outlets.
