Canadian hip-hop mainstay, Def3 is back with an impressive new video supporting his latest album, Small World. The Late Night Radio-produced single – a great choice off the album for video treatment – is especially notable since it features Def3’s talented father, Ramon Fernandez, on the hook.
“What makes the single and its visuals so special is the various cultural influences it blends together. These are inspired by Def3’s Chilean roots, his experience traveling the world, and Canada’s overall multicultural vibrancy.” – Daily Hive
Def3 – a 2018 Breakout West / WCMA nominee for Rap Recording of the Year – will be touring this summer throughout Canada and Europe, which will be followed by US and Australian dates later this year. You can find the Canadian dates towards the bottom of the post.
The new Amy Mantika-directed video is available for viewing below, along with the accompanying press release. “El Fin Del Mundo” is available for streaming now on various major streaming platforms including Spotify and Apple Music.
Regina-born hip-hop artist Def3 releases the “El Fin Del Mundo” video
Rising Canadian hip-hop star Def3 has released a stunning video for his recent collaboration with his father, showcasing over 40 dancers and groups from around the globe in a celebration of culture and color.
This video marks his first set of visuals from his latest album Small World. “El Fin Del Mundo” is a contagious, feel good fusion of modern boom bap hip-hop and traditional Latin sounds, celebrating Def3’s Chilean roots with some help on the chorus, from his father Ramon Fernandez. The video was shot and directed by Amy Mantika of Play Creative Media and showcases over 40 different dancers in a stunning, cinematic, coming together of culture and color.
Def3 is no stranger to sharing the stage or spotlight with his father and has been collaborating and performing with him in both his hometown of Regina, and throughout Canada for the past 10 years. This also includes their headlining performance at the Province’s pavilion at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The track is produced by one of Denver’s most notable electronic producers, Late Night Radio who shares a Latin background, which translates seamlessly in his production. The song was initially written during a three-month creative journey that Def3 took throughout South America, hence the title, which is a slogan used by the city Ushuaia, Argentina, translating in English to “the end of the world.”
The song also features one of many samples he recorded in his travels. Late Night Radio does an incredible job matching Def3’s style and sound flawlessly, creating the perfect musical canvas for his introspective lyrics about life and travels.
