Drake gets ‘Behind Barz’ with Link Up TV; breaks streaming records

Drake gets Behind Barz with Link Up TV; breaks streaming records

After announcing a historic 1 billion streams on Spotify (in the first week) for Scorpion, Drake plugged a new video featuring an appearance he made on UK-based Link Up TV.

The Toronto star gets in on the platform’s popular Behind Barz freestyle segment which starts with some shout outs to some UK talent, including Giggs, and features two solid verses wrapped together with a hook. Each version of the hook (or opening of each verse, depending on how you look at it) features Drake singling out two members of his team including Chubbs and Roxx.

He takes shots at the competition and alludes to the fact that he’s sitting on information some people probably wouldn’t be happy with him revealing.

“You’re droppin’ some shit but that shit was a bust / They got no direction, they followin’ us / I come from a city that they never touch / Your man is a goofy and he can get brushed.”

Scorpion is Drake’s latest album and fifth solo full-length studio project.

It went platinum on its first day of release and has broken streaming records on not only Spotify, but also Apple Music – shattering every Apple Music record, including “becoming the number one album on the Apple Music charts in 92 different countries almost instantaneously and becoming the fastest-growing album ever on the service.”

At 6 p.m. ET today, Drake will hit OVO Sound Radio for a special Scorpion episode of the series dedicated to October Firm. He posted about it on IG earlier:

“Back on OVO sound radio today with a little post Scorpion mix for my people @octoberfirm 🦂”

Drake also recently announced that he’ll be releasing hard copies of Scorpion. The 2CD set will be out Friday, July 13.
