Anthony “Fif” Soares, a friend of Drake’s and an affiliate of OVO, was gunned down in Scarborough by two men last Thursday around 3 a.m. as he made his way into a highrise off Glamorgan Ave.
After being shot several times at at close range, Fif was rushed to the hospital where he eventually succumbed from his wounds.
Today, Toronto Police released graphic footage of the shooting, hoping it will help prompt witnesses to come forward. They also released footage of the vehicle the suspects arrived in – a heavily tinted white Ford Fusion which passes the vehicle that initially dropped off Fif.
Drake fans became more familiar with the 33-year-old OVO affiliate after Drizzy name dropped him on More Life. “No Long Talk” included the line, “Just known man like Fif, he a sickaz/ You get tanned, he don’t miss tings.”
On the day of the shooting, Drake took to Instagram to pay tribute to his longtime friend. He wrote (minus the emojis):
“RIP to one of our family members…our brother… I still can’t even believe this morning was real. It was a honor to have shared years together and I will always keep your memory alive. Forever Fif.”
He was also quick to pay tribute to Fif in the form of a tattoo, getting the words “Forever Fif” inked along with his likeness.
