Canadian producers continue to play a role in some of the biggest songs hitting the market.
Montréal’s own DRTWRK revealed earlier today that he has another #1 hit on his hand as his collaboration with Saweetie, “Back to the Streets” (featuring Jhené Aiko), had topped the US Rhythmic radio chart (via Mediabase).
“Back to the Streets,” co-produced by DRTWRK, Timbaland, MTK, Federico Vindver, and Angel López,” was released as a single on Oct. 23, and Saweetie teamed up with director Daniel Russell to drop the accompanying music video roughly a month later. The song is expected to appear on Saweetie’s upcoming studio debut, Pretty Bitch Music, due out later this year.
Saweetie told gal-dem that the album is focused on “exponential growth and producing artistry” and ultimately, “being about your business.”
DRTWRK first hit our radar years ago working with various Canadian artists including fan favourite, MAGNUM 357. Since then, he’s become one of the most successful Canadian producers in the game and continues to pad his resume with major accomplishments. Along with posting the news, DRTWRK included some words giving thanks and expressing how he was feeling:
“Blessed is an understatement 😢🙏🏼 Way to start the new year…Time to go extra hard. 😤 Thank you to everyone involved and thanks @saweetie for trusting our vision 💙❄️”
Saweetie’s latest single is the Doja Cat-assisted “Best Friend” which dropped on Jan. 8.
