HipHopCanada celebrates 19 years of promoting Canadian art and talent

While the very first run of our website launched in December of 1999, we actually didn’t register our web domain until Jan. 27, 2000. Which means HipHopCanada officially turns 19 today!

It’s been quite a journey over the last 19 years, promoting thousands of Canadian artists, DJs, producers, record labels, and other creative movements along the way.

Since its inception, the website has gone through various renditions, with ‘Version 7’—our current version—launching in Feb. 2018 along with updating our brand identity with a complete rebranding and retooling of the organization.

With a new look and feel, we began preparing original content and programming for our web platform, and bolstering our engagement and presence on social media. Something we continue to put a large emphasis on today.

From the beginning, our mission has been clear, and continues to be what the organization stands for. For the remainder of 2019 (and beyond), expect us to continue:

  • To serve as a media hub covering the Canadian hip-hop / urban music scene—its personnel, businesses and organizations—offering coverage of hip-hop events, projects, and relevant news;
  • To further propel Canadian hip-hop interests, musicians and businesses nationally and internationally;
  • To implement and develop quality programs and workshops – online and offline – to further progress the infrastructure of the Canadian hip-hop music industry, and provide aspiring musicians and music entrepreneurs with networking, skill and knowledge building opportunities;

If that’s something you’d like to help us achieve, considering joining our volunteer team of contributors. if you’re interested, please fill out the form.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported and contributed to HipHopCanada over the years and we look forward to continuing to serve this community we call hip-hop.

Help us continue to grow—follow us on Instagram, and our other social plaforms, and visit HipHopCanada.com daily.
