It’s been an eventful week for St. Lucian-born Canadian recording artist Kayo.
First, he saw a great response to his new video for the single, “So Cold” – adding to the growing anticipation for his Winter In St. Lucia EP dropping this Friday.
He also needed to fend off a media outlet’s claim that he had been murdered. He wasn’t.
For whatever reason, the St. Lucian Times came under the impression that the NOWHERE-artist had been the victim of a drive-by shooting while travelling in the Bahamas.
Thankfully, Kayo was quick to nip the issue in the bud before the claim had a chance to really spread throughout the hip-hop community.
The article is no longer on the St. Lucian Times website. We were also unable to find a retraction so it remains unclear if the paper cleared things up with their own viewers. On Apr. 8, Kayo took a screenshot of the paper’s erroneous headline and tweeted it out with the message:
“This is fake. I’m alive and well. Winter In St. Lucia April 13.”
The new video was directed by Sean Field for Iland Boy Films, and fittingly (Winter In St. Lucia) filmed during a recent trip back home.
While we feel the view count is criminally low considering the immense quality of not just the single, but also the supporting visual, Kayo seems to be more than pleased with the response he’s received so far, tweeting out:
“The reception so far has been so humbling. Thank you a million times over. Keep sharing, liking, commenting on the video. The entire (world) gotta see this.”
It’s certainly all you need to see to get on board with pre-saving the project on Spotify in advance of this Friday’s release. The EP will also be available on other digital streaming platforms.
If this is what Winter in St. Lucia is like, we should all hope to make our way out there one of these cold and treacherous Canadian seasons.
Check out the video below and keep it locked for the new EP!
