After spending the last five years as a member of The Posterz, Montréal rapper Kris the $pirit is gearing up for the release of his full-length solo debut.
Today, with Spirit Mode Vol. 1 on the way, Kris has released new Léa Dumoulin-directed visuals for the introspective single, “Boy’s Krazy.” The video is a mix of Kris riding through his city, random clips from home footage, and nightclub scenes; perfectly complimenting the vibe and message behind the song. “Boy’s Krazy” was co-produced by Kris and Rob Mil, just like the rest of the tracks on the project (with the exception of “Death & Rebirth” and “Fumble Remix,” both produced by Jai Nitai Lotus).
“Its vibe depicts how I feel about my city, isolated, tryna just get out. Get away from that feeling of going crazy.”
Spirit Mode Vol.1, set to drop May 30, is actually the first of two projects Kris will be releasing this year. He started working on the campaign roughly two years ago and is now ready to let his presence be felt:
“I had nowhere to record so I built my own studio and found a producer. I just want people to hear all my different vibes. I’ve always been an artist. I’m ready to show people my work and my music, show what I’m capable of.”
Don’t miss Kris the $pirit’s performance on June 9th at MURAL during the Make It Rain Records’ first anniversary event. Tickets are available online.
