Song of the Day: Toronto’s Lil Riskey returns with new visuals for “On My Soul”

Song of the Day: Lil Riskey returns with new visuals for On My Soul

I’ve never met Lil Riskey (aka YB Riskey) and prior to coming a across an email submission a couple of weeks ago, I’d only heard a few songs. Since checking that email, Riskey has become one of the artists I’m listening to the most; soaking up his catalogue, and figuring out how he slipped under my radar for so long.

Our Song of the Day is the latest visual release from the Toronto-based up-and-comer, who is quickly building an impressive buzz off his sharp, melodic lyricism.

“We shot this video on 3 different days in 3 different parts of the GTA. The message behind the song is a serious one, make sure you listen to the lyrics closely.”

“On My Soul” was directed by Jacob Ettinger, and co-directed by Aaron Wedderburn.

Riskey previously worked with Ettinger on the “How Could I Lose” video which was released in September 2018 and featured in our weekly segment Submission Sundays (now known as The Weekly Eight).

You can find “On My Soul” on Lil Riskey’s new project, Curtain Call (Last Episode) which he’s made available on Audiomack. Some other standouts include “Thinking Out Loud,” the Flacoloco-assisted “Wrong Way,” and “Adderall,” featuring rising Brampton talent, Teyo. But honestly, the whole project is solid from start to finish, and guaranteed to run up Riskey’s evergrowing fanbase.

Riskey would likely be the first to tell you that he’s grossly underrated when it comes to ranking Toronto talent, but strong offerings like “On My Soul” are bound to turn the tide in his favor.

Curtain Call is also available on Riskey’s SoundCloud profile, and expect it to hit other platforms like Spotify in the near future.
