Manifesto will celebrate its 14th annual festival with a one-day livestream multidisciplinary music, arts and culture festival on Saturday, August 29th headlined by Grammy winning Jamaican reggae performer Koffee. As the youngest artist and the first woman to be awarded in the Best Reggae Album category this past year, Koffee will be streaming her full concert set live from Kingston, Jamaica.
Toronto-based Nigerian-Canadian soul singer and rapper TOBi will be supporting Koffee, streaming live from Toronto’s Great Hall. This special evening of live music will also feature local Toronto talents LU KALA, Dijah SB, and Osé. Manifesto 14 will be hosted by plus size social media influencer Sashagai Ruddock.
In addition to a full series of live music concerts (official set times will be announced on August 25th), Manifesto will also be proudly staging a strong multidisciplinary arts line-up that includes; dance, comedy and visual arts showcases, film screenings, cyphers/spoken word performances, mindful movement / yoga sessions, and a DJ after-party.
This year’s festival also sees Manifesto partnering up with an impressive array of leading Toronto arts and culture organizations who programmed and curated their own artistic output, including Manifesto Jamaica, Indigeneyez, Honey Jam, The UnObscured, RISE, Afrowave, Urban Arts, Jane Street Speaks, NIA Centre for the Arts, The Remix Project, Anasimone Show and New Leaf Yoga.
Wrapping up this year’s festival will be the High Power after-party that features leading local DJ’s spinning sizzling sets including Nino Brown, Dre Ngozi, Junia-T, and Young Teesh.
This year’s festival theme is New World. Manifesto creates spaces – both physical and digital – that inspire, develop and amplify diverse communities of young people through arts, culture and media. This year’s 2020 Digital Festival is centered around the influence art has on culture, and how we can use this voice to re-create the new world. The time is now to reimagine, dismantle and evoke change via the arts.
