Mykal Gannon is a Toronto artist known for his melodic flows, and he really puts them on display with his new pop ballad “Bad Boyfriend.” It’s always amazing to see artists step out of their comfort zone and take chances with their music. Mykal Gannon has been on our radar ever since he started putting out music and we had known to love him for his dark, melodic, drug infused rap songs. His new release however lives in a completely different spectrum and we are here for it.
“Bay Boyfriend” is a pop song, there is no doubt about it, but Mykal is expertly able to make it his own and show his fans that he is able to make it happen. The song features a smooth, feel good, guitar riff which Mykal vocally handles with ease. There really isn’t much to the beat, but the simplicity alongside Mykal’s catchy cadence and blatant honesty leave the listener hooked.
What really makes this song special is the vulnerable position that Mykal Gannon puts himself in. He opens up the world to his thoughts and personal truths which although not necessarily all positive, resonate with the listener in a very unique way. He says the things that people are sometimes afraid to say and puts it at the forefront of his artistry. It’s that same genuine nature that made us fall in love with this superstar from the beginning.
