The Canadian music industry has embraced International Women’s Day in full force, and there’s no short of initiatives exemplifying what the day is all about: recognizing women for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.
With the spirit of the day in mind, a local donut shop in Halifax has announced they’re making a special donut in tribute to Halifax group, Neon Dreams. Vandal Doughnuts, located at 2605 Agricola Street, is donating all proceeds from the sale of the Neon Dreams donut to a local women’s organisation called Adsum House. For 28 years, Adsum has offered a range of services and support to women and children during periods of homelessness.
The pastry is described as ‘lime dipped with hot pink sprankles’ (not sure if that’s an intentional type, but we like it).
Neon Dreams, consisting of members Frank Kadillac, Corey LeRue, Matt Gats and Adrian Morris, has also agreed to perform a short acoustic set to help raise some money and awareness for the charity.
The group made headlines recently after pulling out of the Hedley tour in light of sexual assault allegations that came up against Hedley.
They’re currently promoting their Wolf, Princess & Me project which is available on Apple Music and other outlets.
