Neon Dreams set to release “Shape Of My Mind”

Neon Dreams pulls out of Hedley tour

Following on from the recent release of the critically-acclaimed Wolf, Princess & Me and Acoustic Sessions EPs, Neon Dreams are unveiling a new single that confirms the gold-selling Halifax trio just keeps on getting better and better. “Shape Of My Mind” will be released on Jan. 19 the bands label imprint Dreaming Out Loud Records and distributed through Warner Music Canada.

It was written and produced at the Dreaming Out Loud studio in Halifax by Neon Dreams vocalist Frank Kadillac, Nathan Ferraro (Midway State), Nathaniel Motte (Maroon 5, 3OH!3) and studio head Corey LeRue during a very productive week-long writing stint in November.

Frank explains that the thought-provoking concept of the song “is based on human nature. It explores our inherent need to seek out new experiences in a fast changing world. We tend to gravitate toward vices that are bad for us. We constantly like to test our personal boundaries. How do we know something is truly bad unless we try it? These temptations shape our mind.”

Musically, the track is a shape-shifting pop gem. A sparse and rhythmic beat, keyboard washes and subtle guitar fills provide a platform for Frank’s soulful and melodic vocals. The resulting fresh sound has a slight echo of early Police while retaining a contemporary feel.

It represents a new side to Neon Dreams, a band never afraid to stretch out and evolve. Corey LeRue perceptively observes that “During the creation process I could tell this song was special. It blends all the different musical influences that have helped mold the band. Everybody in the room was buzzing with a energy we’ve never felt before. This is the song Neon Dreams fans have been waiting for.”

Winning new fans with every high-energy show they stage, their performance prowess has earned them coveted spots on the summer festival circuit and opening for hot acts such as The Chainsmokers. They now set their sites on a 16 date headline tour of the US including the CIMA’s Pre-Grammy Showcase January 25 in New York City before heading on the 32 date CAGELESS tour with Hedley and Shawn Hook.
