Badly worded text costs Tory Lanez a Nicki Minaj feature

Badly worded text costs Tory Lanez a Nicki Minaj feature

Multiple sources have reported that audio has leaked of the Nicki Minaj-version of “Shooters” that was never released. Unfortunately the stream we had found for this post has already been deleted by YouTube.

It was revealed earlier in the month that Tory Lanez had come close to having an even stronger cast of guest appearances on Memories Don’t Die.

Had it not been a text messaging misunderstanding, Nicki Minaj likely would have appeared on the album version of Tory’s JUNO-nominated single, “Shooters.”

“She was on ‘Shooters’ originally. She was on the record first, and I was telling her something about the verse, I wasn’t saying it was bad or anything, her verse was incredible, and I’m also like a super-Nicki fan […] I was texting her, and it may have came off in a different way, she probably read it in a different way than I said it. I think it maybe kinda came off a little bit arrogant, or I kinda said something I shouldn’t have said about her verse, and she was like, ‘Well, n*gga, it’s not that serious, take my verse off the thing.’ We was like, aight. I love Nicki Minaj when it comes down to her music and the whole thing, but I’m not a reacher. Once a n*gga says it’s quiet, it’s quiet.”

He also references the issue in the album’s AraabMuzik-produced outro, “Don’t Die,” and recently spoke to HotNewHipHop about the lost collaboration.

“Tory Lanez sits down with HNHH for an in-depth interview about Memories Don’t Die, his new album, which features 50 Cent, Wiz Khalifa and more. He discusses 50’s ‘Pieces’ appearances, Nicki Minaj’s lost “Shooters” verse, almost beefing with Travis Scott and a lot more in this exclusive HNHH interview.”

While the audio has been leaked, it’s hard to find a stream that stays online long enough to share. Nicki’s verse contains bars like:

“All I wanna do is go out trappin’ with the girls / They say we bad, I say we some murderers / New bae alert, we ain’t f**kin’ with the clowns / Didn’t I just tell ’em to go turn they goofy down?”

And also:

“I’m just flexin’ too hard, he think he gettin’ that Minaj / Every time we come out, s**t lit I might just go an’ upgrade his b**ch / I’ma need a driver and a shooter.”
