New York, NY – Last fall we had the opportunity to interview New York-based rapper OnCue about his upcoming project Perfectly Tragically Flawed. Since that conversation in late September, the emcee has made considerable gains in his music career – such as a single premiere with Billboard, and a Beats1 premiere of the audio for his latest single “Cry Wolf.”
This recent release, which features a melodic instrumental and Cuey’s signature reflective bars, was an immediate sure-hit among his fans. Long-time producers and collaborators Maki and Just Blaze should be credited with setting by contributing an atmospheric and nostalgic vibe.
“Cry Wolf” is one of the 6 tracks which will comprise the upcoming EP. While we wait for his debut on PTF, the single is a strong inclination of the high quality and depth of substance that we can expect to see on the upcoming album. Fans won’t be surprised at the overall clean aesthetic and impactful lyrics, as consistency is one of the rapper’s strongest traits and one that he’s carried throughout his career. The Hunter Lyon-directed visuals for the single are full of aerial shots, vibrant sunsets, and spotlight shots of Cuey. It’s safe to say the video is the perfect tribute to engage old fans and new fans alike.
