After a great social media campaign building up anticipation for his new heartfelt single, 9-0-Nickel’s Peter Jackson has released “Thinking About You” featuring Halifax singer-songwriter, Ria Mae.
Both artists have seen their status rise significantly in the past couple of years and their chemistry on this new song is off the charts. Mae’s “Clothes Off” single earned her a JUNO Award nomination for Single of the Year in 2016, and most recently she’s found success with her single, “Bend.”
Meanwhile, Jackson saw his “On A Wave” single chart on the Top 30 CHR, and he’s been promoting his Married to Success project which dropped in October. Most recently, Jackson was promoting his Toronto Raptors playoff anthem, “North Over Everything,” which was released in collaboration with Karl Wolf and official Toronto Raptors DJ, 4KORNERS.
The new single was produced by Adam King, the same beatsmith behind Mae’s Gold-certified single, “Bend.”
We asked Jackson about connecting with Mae and working with her on the new single:
“I really love working with her. She was one of my favourite artists in Canada before we got in the studio, and after that I had an even greater appreciation for what she does.”
The new record is expected to receive visual support within the next couple of weeks, powered by award-winning Toronto filmmaker and video director, Cazhhmere.
“Thinking About You,” is HipHopCanada’s Song of the Day. The single is availalbe now on Spotify and other digital streaming platforms.
