Portland’s own Randal Wyatt has released his latest solo offering “Ones.”
This summer, while on the road with his band Speaker Minds, Wyatt ended up sharing a bill at a show in Tempe, AZ with “Ones” producer, Draft Drumz. He played a variety of beats to open the night and it wasn’t long into his set that the MC knew he needed to work with the guy.
“‘Ones’ represents the importance of being unique in your art form and providing substance for your listeners, especially when you’re the voice of a disenfranchised community and admired by future generations.”
The new video was directed by Phillip “McTools” Haleen and is available for viewing below. Credit to DJ Zone for recording, mixing and mastering the release.
Randal Wyatt is an emcee who tries walk what he talks about. Hip-hop has been the foundation of his life since birth and has inspired him to become a community activist who uses the art and culture as a tool to educate and empower those who are marginalized.
He’s known in his native city of Portland, Oregon for his youth outreach and benefit concerts geared towards assisting people and causes in need. His lyrics are usually delivered over golden-era smooth and boom bap style beats when he’s not rhyming with his 6 piece experimental funk/soul/hip-hop band.
Along with being 1/6th of the group Speaker Minds, Wyatt is also in the duo 5th & Wyatt.
“Ones” is available on various digital streaming platforms including Apple Music and Spotify.
