Toronto’s Rosie Monday releases Gdcmplx-assisted “Fuck a Like” single

Rosie Monday releases Gdcmplx-assisted Fuck a Like single

Our weekly segment The Weekly Eight returns with some recent releases from Toronto MC and songwriter, Rosemary Adjoa Marfo, better known as Rosie Monday.

“With a controlled bounce and powerful tone, Rosie’s high impact energy, charming smile and passion for performing welcome new listeners to the genre while connecting with the pulse of seasoned hip-hop enthusiasts.”

Rosie’s most recent single is the Gdcmplx-assisted “Fuck a Like” which dropped on Feb, 18, 2019 via headinthestars music.

“‘#fuckalike’ is a music and visual art-based healthy social media movement giving the middle finger to ‘like culture’ and the idea that ‘likes’ equate value, validation, or endorsement. Likes are ambiguous. Love isn’t. Nothing can replace the power of self-love, especially not the likes on social media, so fuck a like.”

headinthestars also released the “It’s OK” single back in October, and we’re expecting more new music in the near future.

Aside from her own singles, Rosie is featured on the new self-produced single from TwistedWavex called “Guidance,” and played a big part in fellow-Ghanaian artist J’boc’s single, “Sunshine,” produced by Ghanaian producer, Jayfyn.

If that’s not enough to get you familiar with Rosie Monday, make sure you subscribe to her YouTube channel for her weekly ‘mondaymood freestyle’ freestyles.

We recently asked our followers on Instagram which artists they wanted to see us cover, and Rosie was easily one of the most mentioned names in the mix. Her “Fuck a Like” single dropped coincidentally just a day before we went to see what she was all about.

Exploring hip-hop and r&b music through influences of reggae, afrobeat, and electronic sounds, headinthestars music is a Toronto-based independent music and management company focused on re-establishing a globally-recognized uniquely Canadian urban music identity. Rosie is on their roster along with TOI.

THE WEEKLY EIGHT INFO

Submission Sundays was a segment we introduced in 2018 to show love to the hundreds of artists and groups that submit new material to us weekly. The segment also gave us a chance to show love to people who weren’t already receiving regular coverage on HipHopCanada, and gave them a chance to connect with our viewers.

Towards the end of the year, we relaunched Submission Sundays as The Weekly Eight, with the same objective to help artists grow.

Each week, we’ll select 8 new submissions and feature them on our homepage for at least a 24 hour period.

To be considered for The Weekly Eight segment, please submit your content using our Submission Form. International submissions are welcome.

Please note, due to the volume of submissions we receive, we are unable to respond to each submission directly. Submissions with missing information will be deleted.
