March 6-8: Rubaine Consulting Co. presents their 4th Annual International Women’s Day Music Summit

Behind every successful woman, is a tribe of sisters who have her back. This statement could not be more true when it comes to Gabriella Rubaine of Rubaine Consulting and her team; Lydia, Lisa, Selamina and Amanda. Respectively, entrepreneurs, sisters, daughters, mothers and a uniting force that connects these women to their community and allows them to reach for the stars despite varying degrees of adversity.

Rubaine Consulting’s 4th annual International Women’s Day Music Summit is an event for women working in the hip-hop, R&B, soul, reggae, cultural and electronic music genres. This year, the Rubaine team have curated a 3-day music summit featuring panels, workshops, and showcases leading up to International Women’s Day (March 8) ending with live performances by some of the city’s hottest up-and-coming female artists.

Day 1 – March 6, 2020

March 6 – Day 1 kicks off with the opening ceremony, Moms in Music panel, a special 1.5 hour long performance by music mom Mo’ Spence, Grant Writing workshop/panel, Funding panel with Music Ontario & Ontario Creates and catered networking mixer all going down at the Centre for Social Innovation located at 192 Spadina Ave.

The Moms In Music Panel will feature Sydanie, Michie Mee, Helen Britton, and DJ MelBoogie.

Day 2 – March 7, 2020

March 7 – Day 2, inside the Basso Lounge at 320 Queen St E., features a Producers Panel, a Beat Makers showcase and Mental Health in Music with Unison Benevolent Fund.

The Producers Panel will feature 2019 NOMFA AWARD nominee Tessa Goodman, 2019 IStandard ASCAP La Expo Producer Champion Denise De’ion, and co-facilitator of producer event Loop Sessions Toronto, VJ Smith.

The Beak Makers Showcase will feature OBUXUM, Lightskin Barbie and Jade Siress.


Day 3 – March 8, 2020

March 8 – Day 3, goes down at the Hideout at 423 College St., and includes private one-on-ones with delegates, a Publishing Panel with Powerhouse The Super Group and Universal Music, the summit’s closing ceremony, and the Queens Of The Game Showcase.

The Publishing Panel will feature Jennifer Hyland of Universal Music, Kayo Pino of The Super Group, and Kim Temple of Six Shooter Records.The Women In Music Panel will feature Allison Outhit of Six Shooter Records, Neena Sharma of URBNET Records, and Linda Bush of Cadence Records.

The Queens of the Game showcase, taking place from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Day 3 of the Music Summit, will feature performances by Lu Kala, Lex Leosis, Baby Grhyme, Cocanina, Inanna Star, TRP.P (Truss and pHoenix Pagliacci), Zak’isha, Xentury, The Ra11n, and Tessa.
