HipHopCanada recently relaunched Sarah Jay’s Weekly Picks on Spotify. And this week we’re back with 20 new releases you need to hear.
For those who aren’t familiar Sarah Jay’s Weekly Picks is a Spotify playlist featuring the best new Canadian urban music releases. It’s a platform to spotlight the artists coming up and to share my favourite new releases with you.
This week Sean Leon is on the playlist cover in recognition of his new project C.C.W.M.T.T. I swear every time Sean drops a project I think it’s his best work. And then he comes up with something like this and raises the bar even further. And for the record “2017” is one of the best songs of the year.
What else happened recently? GrandBuda returned from over a year of hiatus this week, Birthday Boy and Trish formed a duo, JETSET dropped this third single, Cannonhead dropped a new single, Qartel made a really smooth homage track to “Say My Name” by Destiny’s Child and I discovered a dope self produced vocalist named Chucks.
I’m still shuffling through the new Roy Woods album Say Less and I’ve added Shan Vincent de Paul’s Trigger Happy Heartbreak and Adria Kain’s DE{COM}PRESSED EP into rotation as well. Check out the playlist and track list for Sarah Jay’s Weekly Picks below.
