We’re thrilled to introduce you to Calgary’s golden child, Seven. This 20-year-old up-and-comer has been making waves out West and across the border for quite some time now. The release of his 7-song EP, Not Your Contemporary, instantly slid into the 44th position on Apple Music’s Hip-Hop/Rap charts. The EP opens with “Rapper’s Rapper,” a track with an aggressive flow, that instantly grabs your attention. In an interview with Urba.Today, Seven explained what the project means to him:
“Not Your Contemporary chronicles the struggle between self-doubt and confidence.”
This is seen on the stand out track “Open Letter” which details the self-doubt one has at the beginning of the pursuit of happiness. The lyricism and word play presented on the song will not only have you in-tuned to every bar but will also leave you wanting to hear more. With the independent success of Not Your Contemporary, Seven is an artist to watch.
You can find Not Your Contemporary on Spotify and other streaming platforms.
