London-based recording artist, and the host of DTN Radio, Sum-01, recently released her new EP The Comeback Queen.
The project includes 5 brand new tracks produced by JUNO-nominated Royce Birth (The Outsiders), plus the DJ Res remix of “Back In Tha Day” as an added bonus track. The EP includes features from Fortunato, Ngajuana and El Da Sensei (Artifacts).
It’s been a busy 17 months since Sum-01 stepped back onto the hip-hop scene. Starting in Jan. 2018, she released the 2 Dolla Holla 2.0 mixtape, charting 36 times over 19 weeks on Earshot college charts. The project would help earn her a Best Hip Hop nomination at the 2018 Jack Richardson London Music Awards, and she would release two more singles before the end of the year.
This past March she released the DJ Res remix of “Back In The Day” (the aforementioned bonus track of the new EP), and was selected to to perform at CBC Music’s 2019 JUNOfest alongside JUNO-nominated duo, Snotty Nose Rez Kids.
This past May, Sum-01 was nominated and won the FCLMA (Forest City London Music Awards) for Best Hip Hop, and closed out the show performing alongside Maestro Fresh Wes. Kicking off June with EP-promotions as the primary focus-she opened for Shad at the 10th Annual Grickle Grass event in London. In less than a year and a half, Sum-01 has accomplished more than some artists are ever able to achieve.
