Our Song of the Day is the latest visual offering from Canadian rap star Tory Lanez. After teasing it’s release for several days, Tory pulled the trigger on the Mid Jordan-directed “Benevolent,” in support of his latest project Memories Don’t Die. The new video is the first since the Swavey-rapper released his co-directed (with Toronto’s Zac Facts) work for “Real Things,” featuring Future. That one is getting close to 6 million on the YouTube view count, and it’s only been out since early March.
“Serving more like a short film, the action-packed video is filled with several twists and turns. From being on the run & riding his bicycle to posting up on his white Rolls Royce outside the jewelry store and hitting the acting stage, Tory flosses and stunts hard for the cameras.” – HotNewHipHop
I’ve had a hard time getting the Tory Lanez channel to display a chronological list of uploads – and that experience bordered on infuriating – but the video takes the cake. Music videos are supposed to be tools to promote and sell albums, and “Benevolent” had me going back to Memories, starting from the top of the playlist. So I’d say it did it’s job.
“Benevolent,” (and Memories Don’t Die) are available on Apple Music and other digital outlets. Peep the new video below.
