Hulu just gave everyone a reason to renew their account.
Back in October, it was reported that Wu-Tang Clan’s The RZA was developing a miniseries about the group that was expected to be 10 episodes in length. And now the show is almost ready to go.
Just a few days ago, digital streaming service Hulu released the trailer for Wu-Tang: An American Saga to rave reviews from fans and critics. RZA co-created and wrote the new series with Alex Tse (who also wrote SuperFly). Both RZA and Method Man serve as executive producers along with Francie Calfo and Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment.
Some notable names have been brought on board to play the different members of the group including NYC rapper Joey Bada$$ as Inspectah Deck, UK rapper Dave East as Method Man, and Ashton Sanders as The RZA.
Wu-Tang: An American Saga is inspired by The Wu-Tang Manual and Tao of Wu, and based on the true story of the Wu-Tang Clan. Set in early ’90s New York at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic, the show tracks the Clan’s formation, a vision of Bobby Diggs aka The RZA, who unites the men torn between music and crime but eventually rise to become the unlikeliest of American success stories. Wu-Tang: An American Saga premieres September 4 on Hulu.
Wu-Tang Clan has released five gold and platinum albums, selling 40 million albums worldwide. The group is often hailed as one of the most influential groups in the history of hip-hop with a unique sound and distinct image.
