We were started the day off receiving a text saying, “Yung Dubz killed in Brampton.” After checking with some sources, it appears to be true and we’ve indeed lost another member of the Canadian hip-hop community.
Peel Regional Police indicated that gunfire erupted around 10:30 p.m. at Garden Gate Circle and McLaughlin Road South, near Highway 407 and Hurontario Street. The OVO affiliate was said to have been pronounced dead at the scene while another shooting victim was able to check themselves into the hospital. Details about the investigation have not been released.
Yung Dubz first stepped onto the scene back in 2012 with the release of his “The Real” video, and dropped several other videos that year that had been well received.
After taking a brief hiatus, Dubz returned with a “Panda” freestyle last April and most recently appeared alongside Noah “40” Shebib in the “Made In Canada” Roots commercial. He’d also been busy helping fellow Rexdale artist, Pyrex, promote his hot new golden era of hip-hop tribute, “’94.” Dubz made a cameo in the Brian Gregor-directed video.
